杨善林教授等编写了新著《制造工程管理中的优化理论与方法》,请我作序。我认真读完这部厚厚的书稿以后,感觉这是一部非常全面、系统而又具有创新性的学术专著。于是欣然执笔为之作序,并向广大读者推荐。

制造业是一个国家国民经济的物质基础,是高技术产业化的载体和实现现代化的重要基石。任何一个大国的崛起都离不开制造业的支撑。改革开放以来,我国制造业广泛融入国际产业分工体系,在世界制造体系中的分量与日俱增。特别是加入WTO(世界贸易组织)以来,由于我国潜在的巨大市场和丰富的劳动力资源,世界的制造企业纷纷涌入我国,这使得我国成为世界的制造中心。目前,我国制造业的产值已经超过了美国,成为世界第一制造大国,工业制成品总量、工业品出口量等指标已居世界前列,家电等若干产品的产量已居世界第一位,经济总量已超过日本成为世界第二大经济体。但是,与发达国家相比,我国的制造业仍然处于初级发展阶段,仍然以低端制造业为主,产品附加值不高,出口物品主要是劳动密集型产品,技术含量低,单位GDP(国内生产总值)的能耗居高不下,在自主知识产权的创新设计、先进制造工艺和装备及现代化管理等方面与发达国家仍然存在很大差距。随着劳动力成本的不断上升以及能源资源价格的不断上涨,我国正在失去原有的制造业的发展优势。因此要赢得激烈的国际竞争优势,我国制造业必须要加快转型升级,走新型工业化道路。在转变制造业发展方式的过程中,必然伴随着经营管理理念、经营管理模式和经营管理方法的变革,这就对管理科学工作者提出了严峻的挑战。杨善林教授领导的研究团队紧密结合我国制造业的发展实际,深入研究了制造工程管理中的优化理论与方法,这对于建设制造强国,提升我国的核心竞争力无疑具有非常重要的意义。

制造工程管理是对从产品的概念设计,到正式生产运营,再到产品最终销售的全过程所进行的系统化管理。在制造工程管理过程中,有许多相互关联的优化问题,如制造流程设计优化、物料采购与资源配置优化、生产计划与调度优化、库存控制与物流配送优化、供应链协同优化等,能否有效地解决这些优化决策问题,将直接影响制造资源的有效利用以及生产效率和效益的提升。作者以我国多家大型联合企业为背景,从生产批量与定价联合优化、生产调度优化、机器调度优化、库存控制优化、物流路径优化、供应链协调与优化六个方面系统深入地研究了制造工程管理中的优化理论与方法,取得了许多创新成果,对制造工程管理优化理论及其应用的发展做出了重要贡献。这也是我见到的第一部系统研究制造工程管理中优化理论与方法的学术著作。

从研究路径和研究方法来看,本书的形成也是很有特点的。杨善林教授领导的研究团队长期从事过程优化与智能决策理论、信息管理与信息系统技术及其在工程管理中的应用等方面的研究工作。他们博览群书,从中外理论文献中进行理论研究、分析,更重要的是他们坚持从企业工程管理实际中提炼科学问题,进行深入的理论研究,并将获得的有价值的理论成果用于解决企业在工程管理中遇到的难题,在应用过程中,既通过实践检验理论的科学性和合理性,又用理论指导管理实践。这是一条理论联系实际,从实践中来,到实践中去的科学路径,也是本书之所以具有较高学术价值和实用意义的重要原因之一。我认为,在中国的学术界应该大力弘扬他们所践行的这条理论与实践相结合的研究路径和研究方法。理论与实践相结合,说起来容易,做起来很难。杨善林教授领导的科研团队长期深入到企业中,不畏艰苦,不受干扰,执著追求,用科学的方法发现和解决我国企业工程管理中的实际问题,这是值得推崇的。也希望他们坚持下去,为我国的经济发展和社会进步做出更大的贡献。
