Abstract

With the increasing popularization and development of the electronic digital computer, the various numerical methods for continual structure have been improved greatly. An out- standing example is the wide application of the finite element theory. Now a new theory of the numerical analysis, i.e. "the discrete method for the differential operator", is presented to solve the bending problems of thin plates. The new method, with the characteristics of both the difference method and the finite element method, could give final explicit dis- crete expression directly without special treatment to the boundary value. It can be applied to a plate with any form of edges because of the flexibility of the element division.
